Draping Tools You Need For Your Business

Okay, so I’m going to give it to you straight. Not having the right draping and piping materials can make your life a living hell. No, I’m not just talking about fabric. I’m talking about the actual tools that you absolutely must have on you at all times if you want your draping and piping project to run smoothly. Don’t know what those things are? You know I got you covered. Take a look below at the 5 draping tools you need to have at all times if you want to get serious about your draping projects. It’s people out there who say that you need to have XYZ to put your draping piping projects together. They might be right, but I’m going to narrow it down to just 5 draping tools that you can pick up for under $100. And yes, boo, these are the exact same items that I have on me when I put together any event. Even the ones I do for celebrities. I want to make sure you have them as well so you can get to this money. Okay? Here we go.

Draping Tool #1: Straight Pins and Safety Pins

Oh, you ain’t know? These good old-fashioned pins can be a lifesaver when your fabric or setup won’t let you be great. Because we’re dealing with large pieces of fabric, you want to get the jumbo size straight pins and safety pins. Always remember that pins are meant to be tools, not necessarily part of the design. Now, if you want it to be part of your design, get a color that correlates with your fabric.

Draping Tool #2: Screwdriver

Always, always, always make sure you have a handy dandy screwdriver. This should go without saying, but it’s so easy to forget one when you’re busy ripping and running the day of the event. I keep a screwdriver in my bag and in my car for safe measure. Tightening your rods and aluminum pieces requires a screwdriver or a flat head. Now, if you do find yourself without either one the day of the event, don’t freak out. A quarter or a nickel to help you out in a pinch. No, it’s not ideal, but you gotta do what you gotta do, right?

Draping Tool #3: Pipe Cleaners

I cannot stress enough how many times one of these bad boys has helped me when I didn’t know what else to do. To get that scrunched-up look quickly, a pipe cleaner has you covered. Because they’re so thin, you can barely see them if you conceal it correctly. Now, I know some of y’all are anal about those types of things, so a small piece of fabric, rope, or aluminum coil will conceal it.

Draping Tool #4: C-hooks

If your design requires embellishments such as a garland or chandelier, having a C-hook be your new bestie. C-hooks help secure your attachments to your backdrop. I like to use C hooks when I really want to go all out for my clients, and it goes well with my backdrop. They love the upgraded look, and you can get them for an affordable price.

Draping Tool #5: Utility Apron

Alright, look here! This might be the most important thing of everything I’ve named so far. When you’re busy ripping and running while trying to set up an event, it’s easy to misplace stuff. I’m talking super easy. So easy to the point I don’t even want to admit how many times it’s happened to me over the years. Let’s be real.
