3 Ways to Discover What Your Audience Wants

by Precious Stevens on July 05, 2023
Social Media has really changed how we view marketing, customer research, and product development. Before social media, the best way to get your message out to the consumer was through print, radio, and billboards. Not only do these avenues come with a substantial cost, but they also aren’t something that you can do yourself. Social media, on the other hand, is something that you can do all by yourself if you have the right tool. A common problem for creators is figuring out what their audience wants to see. By doing this, you’ll be able to boost your engagement, sales, and success. Planning and research are important when it comes to using social media effectively for marketing your side hustle business. Here are three ways to figure out what your audience wants to see from you.

1. Ask Them.

Head Plain and simple; there’s no sense in guessing what they want, so ask them directly. Create a survey free survey online. I recommend using SurveyMonkey to create one and share the link via social media and to your email list. If your engagement is already at a decent amount, you can also try asking them directly in your post.

2. Check out your social media Insights.

Social media insights and analytics are amazing tools for boosting engagement. In particular, take a look at what posts have gotten the most likes, shares, and comments. Use those topics to plan out more posts. Ensure that you aren’t repeating the same post, but try to stay on popular topics. For example, if you made a funny video where you talked about your children, it may be a good idea to make a part two!

3. Pay Attention to other conversations in groups or on competitors’ posts.

In order to get popular with your consumers both offline and online, you need to listen to them. In this case, it’s important to engage with your customers on a daily basis. Customers will ask questions, leave reviews, comment, and send messages. It is important for you to respond and/or acknowledge each and every person. Customers tend to be more vocal online than in person, so pay attention to what they say they need or cannot find in the market. Take that idea and develop it. Then turn it into a new service, product, or series of posts offering detailed information your market needs. Most importantly, be present on social media consistently. Take notice of what’s happening in conversations. Automating your social media can be a great time-saver, but social media is supposed to be…SOCIAL. No amount of automation can make up for the lack of interaction from you to your customers. People don’t want to follow a robot; they want a real person.
